Access Your File
We do not keep secrets from our clients. We aim to make our file on your case continually accessible to you. To that end, Charles International Law uses Clio, a popular and efficient client-management application. Clio features an encrypted file portal that is accessible to both you and your attorney. Your attorney will retain the right and ability to organize your file in a way that makes sense for him and your case strategy. However, you can add to and access your documents anytime using Clio for Clients. Clio for Clients is available in both web browsers and smartphone applications for iPhone and Android. Detailed instructions for using Clio for Clients are available on the Clio website. To get started, please watch this video:
A Tip on Navigating Your Casefile:
When organizing your documents, it's helpful to keep them in chronological order, as people tend to remember things that way. At Charles International Law, we ensure that your digital files appear chronologically using the following convention: "YYYYMMDD <description>."
Here's what each part of the file name represents:
"YYYY" stands for the year the document was produced or received.
"MM" represents the month the document was produced or received.
"DD" indicates the day the document was produced or received.
“<description>” is the title of the document or a brief description of what the document contains.
Submitting Documentation
Legal cases of all kinds involve lots of paperwork and evidence. Your attorney will provide you with a checklist of what you need to provide for your particular case. You may -- and should -- submit all documentation to Charles International Law electronically wherever possible.
The best way to submit it is to upload it directly to your file using Clio for Clients.
The next best way to send documents to us is via email. (Charles International Law cannot guarantee the security of emails sent to and from locations outside of the United States.)
The next best way to send documents to us is via WhatsApp. (Charles International Law cannot guarantee the security of WhatsApp.)
The next best way to send documents to us is via SMS Text Message. (Charles International Law cannot guarantee the security of SMS text messages sent to and from locations outside of the United States.)
The least preferable way to send documents to Charles Legal Service is in hardcopy. Charles International Law will certainly accept hardcopy documentation, but processing those documents will require additional time, effort, and costs. For that reason, Charles International Law must charge a processing and handling fee of $1 per page due to the additional expense of storing, organizing, and securing your hardcopy paperwork.
Submitting Forms and Questionnaires
Sometimes, your attorney may need additional information about you or your case that is not readily available in your documentation. This is particularly common in administrative law cases such as immigration applications. Charles International Law will provide you with an online questionnaire to gather the required facts whenever possible. While the questionnaires may appear impersonal, our clients find them convenient as they can submit the information at their own pace. Additionally, you won't be charged for the time you spend collecting and submitting your information online. In contrast, you may incur fees if your attorney has to assist you in compiling and submitting the information directly. Once again, our goal is to offer top-notch representation cost-effectively.
Charles International Law’s forms are in English. Some of our clients, particularly immigration clients, find completing those forms difficult or confusing. To automatically translate a form into your native language, please follow the instructions in this video:
Scheduling Time with Your Attorney
Please understand that you are not our only client. Consequently, we might not be available to discuss an issue with you at a moment’s notice. However, we strive to make ourselves available to you as much as possible and communicate with you in the most thorough way possible. To that end, we prefer to communicate via Zoom over phone calls, phone calls over text messages, and emails as a last resort. You can schedule a 30-minute Zoom meet or phone call with your attorney here:
Conclusion
We look forward to working with you and finding solutions to any problem you might encounter. We value your satisfaction above all other factors except our integrity. Thank you for your trust in our counsel and representation!
